Clutch as Fuck

The other side of the same games: a team that came back from a large deficit, tied it late and won, scored short-handed when it mattered, ended overtime in seconds, scored almost as soon as it went on the power play, killed a pile of penalties, or scored with its goalie pulled.

Severity runs from 0 to 100 within each type of moment, so 100 is the worst (or best) on record. Click a column heading to re-sort.

How each moment is found
Comeback from a large deficit
Trailed by 3 or more goals and went on to win (including in overtime or a shoot-out). Ranked by the size of the deficit.
Late equaliser, then the win
Equalised in the closing minutes (or after trailing by two or more late on) and went on to win. Ranked the same way as the matching collapse.
Short-handed goal that decided it
Scored short-handed to tie or take the lead in the third period or later and went on to win. Ranked by how late it came.
Overtime winner within seconds
Scored the overtime winner within 60 seconds of the restart. Ranked by speed.
Power-play goal within seconds
Scored on the power play less than 10 seconds after the penalty was called. Ranked by speed.
Penalty-kill stand
Faced at least 10 minutes of minor and major penalties without conceding a power-play goal, and won by one goal or in extra time. Fights and misconducts are not counted.
Goal with the goalie pulled
Scored with the goalie pulled after 50:00 (goalie pulls are recorded from 2022/23). Ranked by the effect on the score (took the lead, tied, cut the deficit), then whether the team won, then how late.
